I love to shoot outdoors... I love to photograph people outdoors in every season! I'm still not sure what my favourite season is, because each has its own beautiful qualities. But I do know that I absolutely adore the gorgeous overcast days we have been having here in Adelaide of late. Sure, it may be a little chilly, but it's time to rug up, get outdoors and go for adventures! I recommend adventures to gardens! Adventures to gardens with winding paths, through the fallen leaves of autumn trees and flower lined pebble paths. Because this is exactly what I did today!
Children are professional adventurers. Their natural curiosity guides them and takes them on wondrous imaginary quests. And today, I had the pleasure of meeting 3 yr old Mason, he was an experienced professional adventurer who led us, (adventure stick in hand of course) on many small quests today through the beautiful gardens in Blackwood. With little sister in tow, he led the way through windy paths and tall trees and past duck ponds and open grassy spaces.
I adore these types of family sessions. The type of session where kids get to be kids and the parents let them be a little wild and plenty of free!
Thank you Renee and Drew for letting me run around with your kiddlets for the arvo and snap a few shots in between our adventures.
It's no secret that I love photographing newborns. The cuddles, those squishy little faces, the excited and proud new parents, it is such a beautiful beautiful time. The only thing that could make these sessions any more special is when that brand new baby boy is the son of one of the girls I went to Kindy and school with! How precious these moments are in a new parents life. I always feel so honoured when I'm asked to be a small part of it. Baby Campbell was just 14 days when I made the drive down to Meningie to visit Tash and Scott's little bundle of cuteness. He sure was one content little bub for the shoot too!
Congratulations Tash and Scott on your beautiful baby boy.
Welcome to the world Campbell.
How lucky must this Mum be to have such beautiful daughters as Joh and Eliza. Joh contacted me a few weeks ago explaining that she wanted to purchase a voucher for her Mum's birthday. I thought this was the most thoughtful gift a daughter could give to her mother. The idea that she loves and appreciates her Mum so much that she wanted to make images of her mother at this particular stage in her life permanent just seemed so beautiful to me.
So often I photograph young families, and while I think it's great to capture these early stages in a new families life, I think it is equally as important to capture a family through ALL stages in their lives. And for this family, it was about marking a milestone in their Mum's life, a birthday. How beautiful and thoughtful is that!
And what better place to photograph this than at a location that has just as many family ties and memories with the family as they do with each other! I met Joh's family at their home in Milang, where they have lived since their youngest daughter was just 2 years old. I then followed them down to the local boat ramp and Jetty where we began our shoot. The partners and Joh's Dad soon met with us and we went for a little wander along the shore of the lake where they took me to their old family shack. Nestled amongst the other shacks of Milang and full of character, I could see why Kirk and Ros had chosen to make Milang their home for so many years.
To Joh and Eliza, your love for your Mum is so beautiful and I loved capturing every moment!
I love nothing more than when a couple tells me that they are a little nervous about being photographed. I love watching them go from being that bit reserved to then being completely comfortable in front of the camera. It is such a beautiful thing to capture someones true self. These two gorgeous souls couldn't have been more natural and photogenic if they tried! And the thing that made them so natural and relaxed, was the love between the two of them! Those cuddles, those looks, everything about these two just says LOVE. Newly engaged and crazy in love!
We got so lucky with the beautiful light last night and I could help but take them up to one of my favourite lookouts. The light, views and everything about these two sweet people made for some truly romantic captures. I have to say, I probably got a little carried away photographing Maddie and Cam last night. But when you have a location as beautiful as this and a couple as adorable and gorgeous as these two, how could I not! So thanks guys for letting me go crazy.
A huge congratulations to Maddie and Cam. You guys were an absolute delight to photograph!
With the change in weather comes a different season for my work too. I move from shooting sunny weddings to indoors photographing newborn babies in the cosy warmth of their own homes. I love everything I do, but cuddling newborn babies would have to be at the very tippy top of my fav shoots. Especially when they're as cute as this little man was! Welcome the beautiful 9 day old, baby Spencer.
I photograph a lot of babies and meet lots of first time parents, and I have to say that Danielle and Scott were just so calm and relaxed. Their calming nature made for one very happy and content little bubs for our shoot over the weekend.
Congratulations guys and welcome to the world baby boy, you're certainly in safe hands. x
Here it is! The last wedding we shoot until September this year. And what a wedding it was to round off the first half of the year! Grace and Mick... Where do i begin... They're chilled, sweet and funny as heck! As soon as I met these two I knew it was going to be an amazing wedding. After our first meeting, I immediately went home and told Howie (my fiancé and second shooter) "Just wait, you are going to LOVE these guys!". I couldn't wait for our second meeting and for the boys to meet and have a chat too.
Our second catch up was at my home and in true style, my kids ran feral through the house, all the while we shared laughs, chatted and got to know each other even more before the big day.
The wedding day arrived and as I met with Grace and her sisters (also her bridesmaids), Howie headed over to share the morning with Mick and the boys. We hung back and captured all the pre-ceremony shenanigans with no shortage of smiles and laughs. The boys went ahead to the ceremony in true style, a limo, to meet with their guests and the girls continued to get Grace ready for action and to be standing alongside her soon to be husband.
We drove from North Adelaide over to Tusmore Oval where Mick, the groomsmen, and their guests were waiting for the arrival of the bride. The ceremony was beautifully run by the gorgeous Vicky Flanegan (Marriage Celebrant) who made the formalities of the ceremony heartfelt, fun and just plain awesome!
And with the seal of kiss, Grace and Mick were married! Their family cheered, congratulated, laughed, cried, hugged and kissed as the newly married couple made their way past each of their guests.
We captured the celebrations of the ceremony and then made our way out to a beautiful Autumn park to grab a few shots before joining the guests once again at the reception.
Reception was held at the very funky venue, Ten22. Grace and Mick were introduced and rejoined with their friends and family for some final celebrations, amazing food and of course a few drinks. Just a quick note on food... massive shout out to Graces' sister Ellie, your cupcakes were absolutely amazing! (still salivating over them while typing this now)...
One of the things that Howie and I loved most about this wedding was that a few people assumed that we were actual guests because we fit in so well! I think this may well be one of the best compliments we have ever received! I love that we form such beautiful friendships with all our wedding couples. We truly love this job and feel so humbled every time we are asked to be a part of someones wedding day!
Grace and Mick, you guys are beyond awesome and we're so happy you asked us to be the ones to capture your special day. So much love for the both of you!
Amy & Howie
